The purpose of the current study was to assess the efficacy of the Al-Azizia WWTP in the Wasit Governorate of Iraq's wastewater treatment facilities. Activated sludge (conventional activated sludge) is the process used for wastewater treatment. At the central laboratory of the province of Wasit, wastewater quality was assessed using samples of the plant's influent and effluent. Based on the treated wastewater quality data, an estimation of the plant's performance was made. It was determined to establish correlations between influent and effluent TSS, COD, and BOD5. The findings demonstrate that every sample taken from the Al Azizia WWTP exceeded the permissible levels for Iraq. The acquired results indicated that the plant's treated wastewater did not meet the local, national, and international regulations and recommendations for treating wastewater and reusing it for agricultural purposes. The plant's wastewater was improved through trials using MBBR media and available injection air to increase treatment efficiency. The results showed that the treated water produced met local and international guidelines and could be used for agriculture without having a negative impact on the health of nearby residents or the general public.
